Casse Has Conquest Stable Pair for Swynford

Conquest Typhoon and Conquest Boogaloo both entered for seven-furlong juvenile test.

Trainer Mark Casse has entered a pair for Conquest Stables for the $125,000 Swynford Stakes at Woodbine Sept. 7 in Conquest Typhoon and Conquest Boogaloo.

Casse and Conquest Stables teamed to win last year's Swynford with Conquest Titan in a romp. Casse also won the 2012 renewal with John Oxley's Uncaptured , who went on to earn a Sovereign Award as Canada's outstanding 2-year-old male. Casse has won the Swynford a record five times.

Six 2-year-old colts and geldings are entered in the seven-furlong Polytrack test, a prep race for the Grey Stakes (Can-III) at Woodbine Oct. 5. The Swynford is race 8 on the Toronto-area track's Sunday program with a 4:35 p.m. EDT scheduled post.

The maiden Conquest Typhoon has been second in both of his starts for Casse, including his debut at five furlongs in the Clarendon Stakes July 12. He came back Aug. 4 to run second in a maiden turf event at six furlongs, losing by a neck after setting a deliberate pace.

Conquest Stables spent $330,000 to acquire Conquest Typhoon from the Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency consignment at last year's Keeneland September yearling sale. The bay colt by Stormy Atlantic  was bred in Ontario by Josham Farms out of the Ascot Knight mare Swanky Bubbles. Conquest Typhoon is a half sibling to the multiple stakes-placed filly Bubbles to the Top, who earned $275,363.

Conquest Boogaloo has been slow out of the gate in both of his races, though he came from six lengths behind to break his maiden in his most recent start Aug. 10 at the Swynford distance. A son of Scat Daddy, Conquest Boogaloo was purchased by his owner for $190,000 at Keeneland September last year when consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency.

Patrick Husbands is named on both Conquest Typhoon, who drew the rail, and Conquest Boogaloo, who leaves from post 3. Casse will likely scratch one of the colts with an eye on the grassy Summer Stakes (Can-IIIT) at one mile Sept. 13.

Melnyk Racing Stable's homebred Glenville Gardens has been in a regular workout pattern since the end of May. The Street Cry colt makes his debut here for Josie Carroll off a five-furlong breeze in 1:00 4/5 over the Poly Aug. 30. Luis Contreras has been drafted to ride.

Clyde D. Rice's maiden winner Less Than Perfect was no threat on dirt when sixth in the Sanford Stakes (gr. III) July 19 at Saratoga Race Course. The Pleasantly Perfect youngster returns to the Poly after finishing third in a Woodbine turf allowance Aug. 23 for trainer Kevin Rice.

Maidens in the field are Honkeytonk Man, fourth behind Conquest Boogaloo on turf last time, and George McFly, also fourth on the lawn locally in his most recent start.
