Vertiformer to Stand at Poplar Creek in Ohio

Calumet-owned horse is half brother to group I winner Declaration of War.

Vertiformer , a multiple graded stakes-placed 7-year-old old horse, will begin his stud career in 2015 at Poplar Creek Horse Center in Ohio.

Owned and raced by Calumet Farm, Vertiformer is by Dynaformer out of the Rahy mare Tempo West. He is a half brother to Declaration of War , a two-time group I winner who will stand next year at Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky.

Vertiformer, who will stand for a fee of $2,000, this year finished second, beaten a neck, in the Pan American Handicap (gr. IIT) and third in the John B. Connally Turf Cup (gr. IIIT). In 2012 he finished third in the W.L. McKnight Handicap (gr. IIT).

"It is an honor to have Calumet Farm send such a fantastic individual as Vertiformer to stand here at Poplar Creek and become part of the new Ohio program," Poplar Creek owner Robin Murphy said Dec. 2. "I feel certain that Vertiformer will be well-received not only in Ohio but in surrounding states as well."

Murphy said special incentives and discounts are available for those with qualifying mares.
