Smart Bid Relocates to Milky Way in CA

Smart Strike horse earned more than $1 million in his racing career.

Millionaire Smart Bid, a two-time graded stakes-winning son of Smart Strike, has been relocated to stand the 2016 breeding season at Milky Way Farm near Temecula, Calif.,for a fee of $3,500.

Smart Bid, the property of George Strawbridge Jr.'s Augustin Stables, is out of the graded stakes-winning Danzig mare Recording. He won the 2011 Mervin H. Muniz Jr. Memorial Handicap and 2012 Fair Grounds Handicap (both gr. IIT) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots during a 26-race career in which he earned $1,008,309.

Smart Bid, a 9-year-old horse, was bred by Strawbridge in Pennsylvania and was trained by Graham Motion. He finished second in two grade I turf events: the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic at Churchill Downs and the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap, both in 2011.

Smart Bid won races on dirt, synthetic and turf, and at distances from seven furlongs to 1 1/2 miles. He stood the 2015 breeding season at Saratoga Stud in New York.
