Racing Investigators to Meet in NJ in March

The organization addresses integrity matters and safety issues.

The Organization of Racing Investigators will hold its 2015 training conference March 1-4 at New Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J.

The conference, designed to spotlight racing integrity matters and safety issues, will be attended by racing investigators and regulators from the United States and Canada.

Among the topics on the agenda are using technology to foster integrity; drug compounding; an analysis of pari-mutuel wagering; previous investigations, including one in Pennsylvania; safety rails; and cobalt use and testing. The keynote speaker will be Jeff Gural, who operates New Meadowlands and is outspoken on issues of integrity in harness racing.

Some of the sessions are closed, according to organizers.

The ORI was formed in 1991 to address problems in the pari-mutuel racing industry as they related to the integrity and general health of the sport, and to encourage working relationships among regulators and investigators.
