Tattersalls Launches New Bonus Scheme

Will replace the five races comprising the Tattersalls Millions Series.

Tattersalls is replacing its five-race Tattersalls Millions series with a new incentive program that will reward the winners of more than 300 maiden races in Great Britain and Ireland.

The new £25,000 Bonus Scheme will be offered exclusively to horses that will be offered through Book 1 of the 2015 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. To be known as the Book 1 Bonus, the new incentive program will replace the five races making up the Tattersalls Millions Series, which will conclude with the 2016 running of the Tattersalls Millions 3-Year-Old Trophy at Newmarket's Rowley Mile Racecourse.

Owners of the qualifying 2015 October Book 1 yearlings will receive a £25,000 bonus when their horses win a Class 2, 3 or 4 2-year-old maiden race in Great Britain or an open 2-year-old maiden race in Ireland. The cost to enter the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus Scheme will be a single payment of £1,000 and the number of qualifying British and Irish 2-year-old maiden races is expected to exceed 300.

The £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus will run alongside the widely acclaimed Plus 10 Scheme, which started this season. All yearlings sold, bought in or failing to meet their reserve at Book 1 of the 2015 Tattersalls October yearling sale will be eligible for the huge.

"We are very excited to be launching the £25,000 Tattersalls October 'Book 1 Bonus'," said Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony. "The new scheme represents a very significant financial commitment by Tattersalls and the prospect for owners of earning prize money in excess of £30,000 for winning any of more than 300 British and Irish 2-year-old maiden races is hugely enticing. Prize money is the lifeblood of the sport and we are proud to be introducing a Scheme which looks set to capture the imagination of owners, trainers and consignors, and which will launch the celebrations for the 250th anniversary year of the founding of Tattersalls."
