Woodbine perennial leading trainer Mark Casse would seem to have the Wonder Where Stakes surrounded. Three of the 10 3-year-old fillies entered in the $250,000, 10-furlong turf test for Canadian-breds hail from the Casse barn, including two of the likely favorites.
has run well over Woodbine's Polytrack and tries the grass for the first time. She ran second, missing by a nose and a neck, respectively, in the Bison City Stakes and Eternal Search Stakes her last two times out. She was a one-turn winner in the Lady Angela Stakes in May at Woodbine and is in very consistent form.
Another Casse runner, Season Ticket
, ran fourth in the Selene Stakes (gr. III) three back, before a third in the Woodbine Oaks and a second in the Ontario Damsel, the last two in restricted company. The 10 furlongs may well suit her.
, winner of the Bison City by a nose, has acquitted herself well in added-money events. She is a two-time stakes winner over the Woodbine Polytrack and has a big shot here. Casse's third entrant, Modus Operandi
, stalked the pace and finished second in a state-bred allowance heat over the course last out. She will be stepping up in class here.
Another allowance runner moving up is Ice Festival
, who has been very consistent in allowance company, but will need a bigger effort here. First-out maiden winner Singwiththebirds
is being moved straight into stakes action by Sam-Son Farm. She scored at a mile and drew the outside gate in the Wonder Where. Pengally Bay
broke her maiden last out over the course, going 10 furlongs on the front end.
won over the course last out with a huge move from near the back. She, too, is stepping outside allowance foes. Secret Action
had to drop to maiden claimers for her first victory last out and is ambitiously placed here. Likewise, Dyna's Recoleta
, a maiden after five starts who ran Pengally Bay to a head over the course last month.
