Mr Leadbox Scores First Win for Sire Ice Box

Ice Box stood the 2015 season for $7,500 at Millennium Farms near Lexington.

Kentucky-based sire Ice Box  picked up his first winner Sept. 18 when Mr Leadbox won a maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds at a mile on the turf at Remington Park.

Winner of the 2010 Florida Derby (gr. I) and runner-up in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), Ice Box is an 8-year-old son of Pulpit. He has 15 starters from 71 current 2-year-olds in his initial crop.

A homebred for Toby Keith's Dreamwalkin Farm, Mr Leadbox and rider Shane Laviolette rallied from sixth-place early and drew off to a 5 3/4-length score for trainer Kenny Smith. Kentucky-bred Mr Leadbox is out of the Broken Vow  mare Mislead by Deb.
