The Groom Elite Program will certify grooms that successfully completed Groom Elite 101 classes currently underway at Colonial Downs in Virginia and Canterbury Park in Minnesota. Full classes of 30 grooms at each track will have completed 30 hours of instruction and exercises put together by professional equine educators, owners, veterinarians, and other industry professionals under the direction of Susan O'Hara, director and education chair of Texas Horseman's Partnership and education co-chair for national HBPA. The program will be completed at Colonial Downs on July 18 and at Canterbury Downs on July 31...Tom Thornbury has been named associate director of sales at Keeneland. Thornbury is the former general manager of Airdrie Stud and Oakland Farm and operated The Oakland Agency...Kentucky Educational Television has produced a documentary, "The William T. Young Story" that premieres July 15 at 10 p.m. EDT. The one-hour program, produced by Shae Hopkins and Charlee Pagoulatos, will be repeated on July 19 at 8 p.m. and on KET2 on July 28 at 1 p.m ... The winner of The Victory Gallop Name Game, a promotional contest presented by WinStar Farm to name a Victory Gallop colt out of Lady of The Lake, was announced on Belmont Stakes Day. The winning name Winvictus was submitted by Georgia Dupius of Somis, Calif. ...Emirates Racing Association has unveiled the Dubai Racing Carnival. The seven-week racing carnival begins Feb. 13 and concludes with the Dubai World program of March 29, 2003. According to Emirates Racing Association chief executive Les Benton, a pattern race will be held on each of the seven Dubai Racing Carnival dates. Also included is the introduction of Super Saturday, with seven pattern races that match the races carded for the Dubai World Cup meet, and the Dubai Triple Crown...The Albany Law School's Racing and Wagering Law Program has launched a Web site that provides information on current legal issues concerning horse racing, charitable gaming, Indian gaming, and commercial casinos.
