Glorious View may have taken nine starts to break her maiden but it’s safe to say the Kentucky-bred daughter of Pleasant Tap has figured the racing game out. The 4-year-old filly proved she was ready for stakes company when she posted a tenacious, front-running victory in her black-type debut, the Vagrancy Handicap (gr. II) May 18 at Belmont Park.

Glorious View extended her winning streak to four with her most recent score, which marks her fourth in 12 starts, all on the New York Racing Association circuit. She has earned $303,190 for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott and breeder Brant Laue, who races the filly in the name of his Laue Ranch.

“We're very proud of how she's come along," said Laue. "You don't often have a horse that takes nine starts to break her maiden and then reel off four victories, including a graded stakes. But that's what makes horse racing interesting."

Laue and Mott also teamed to race Glorious View’s stakes-winning dam, Cayuga’s Waters, who retired from racing with earnings of nearly $200,000. The daughter of Langfuhr was the first horse bought by Laue, who went to $45,000 for her at the 2003 Fasig-Tipton New York preferred yearling sale. She was consigned by Thomas J. Gallo Sales Agency, agent.

Cayuga’s Water’s first offspring, Cascadilla Falls, a 5-year-old daughter of E Dubai, is also a stakes winner. Now a broodmare for Laue, she is in foal to Artie Schiller. Cayuga’s Water’s youngest foal is a Cape Blanco filly, born March 27. She is in foal to Quality Road.

Cayuga’s Water’s 2-year-old Lemon Drop Kid colt fetched $250,000 at the 2012 Keeneland September yearling sale. Consigned by Laue Ranch through Hurstland Farm, agent, he was bought by Ben Glass, agent.

Laue owns and operates Laue Charolais Ranch near Hanover, Kan., with his parents Lester and LeAnna. According to its website, the operation is among the oldest and largest producers of purebred Charolais cattle in the central United States. Brant Laue also maintains a law practice in Kansas City.

Among the other horses Laue has campaigned is three-time graded stakes victor Gun Salute, who scored his major victory in the 2005 Secretariat Stakes (gr. IT).

Pleasant Tap is the sire of 60 stakes winners, including other 2013 added-money victor Sahara Sky (gr. II). Pleasant Tap stood at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End near Versailles, Ky., until he was euthanized due to laminitis in 2010.—E.M.
