Chasing Dreams Racing 2008 has a powerful one-horse stable in the form of NobleÕs Promise. The 2-year-old son of Cuvee powered his way to a 31Ú4-length victory in the Sept. 26 Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes at Presque Isle Downs in his third start. The 5-2 second choice, NobleÕs Promise beat 11-10 favorite Grand Slam Andre.
Chasing Dreams Racing 2008 is a partnership of Kelly Colliver, Robert Brewster, and Ron Holmberg. The first two-named are from Lexington and Holmberg is from Louisville. Kenny McPeek is the trainer.
ColliverÕs success in racing is not limited to NobleÕs PromiseÕs recent win. Dream Empress, a filly managed by Colliver for Livin the Dream Racing and trained by McPeek, won the Darley Alcibiades Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland in October 2008. Later that month Dream Empress ran second in the Bessemer Trust BreedersÕ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.
NobleÕs Promise was bred in Kentucky by Dr. Charles Kidder and his son Ben in partnership with Dr. Nancy Cole. Both veterinarians, Kidder and Cole own Corner Woods farm near Lexington. Ben Kidder plays a major role in the farmÕs operation.
NobleÕs Promise and his dam, the Clever Trick mare The DevilÕs Trick, were both consigned to the 2007 Keeneland November breeding stock sale by the Beck familyÕs Gainesway, agent. ÒNobleÕs Promise was a very nice weanling, and we thought that would help bring attention to The DevilÕs Trick,Ó Dr. Kidder said.
NobleÕs Promise was purchased by the Colliver group with the intention of pinhooking him. He was bought for $10,000 by Southeast Bloodstock, agent for Wild as Elle. The DevilÕs Trick (in foal to PollardÕs Vision) was purchased for $4,500 by Geo Pacific.
ÒRory Callis, who short lists some of my horses at the sales, selected NobleÕs Promise,Ó McPeek said.
NobleÕs Promise was entered in the 2008 Ocala BreedersÕ Sales Co.Õs August sale of 2-year-olds in training. Consigned by Ballinswood Sales, agent, he was bought back for $25,000.
Kidder and Cole are represented as breeders by 2009 multiple grade I winner Informed Decision. The 4-year-old mare won the Sept. 12 Presque Isle Downs Masters Stakes (gr. III) in her last start and topped the $1-million mark in the process.
Cuvee has sired five stakes winners, including additional 2009 added-money winners Fairway Road and Majestic Vintage. Cuvee stands at Gainesway Farm near Lexington. His 2009 fee was $6,500.ÑD.S.
