Won at 4BERNARD BARUCH H.
(gr. IIT , 9f , defeating Cowboy Cal, Sette E Mezzo, Seaspeak, Mambo Meister, Interpatation, Colony (IRE), Deal Making, Yate's Black Cat, Kutais ).
Justenuffhumor keeps proving that he loves turf racing. After finishing unplaced on synthetic last year in his sole start, he has won all six starts this year, all on grass. His latest win came in the Aug. 28 Bernard Baruch Handicap (gr. IIT) at Saratoga.
Coupled with Irish-bred Colony and the stronger half of the 9-10 favored entry, Justenuffhumor had his work cut out for him midway through the 11Ú8-mile race. ÒI was concerned when (announcer) Tom Durkin said, ÔAnd 12 lengths back is Justenuffhumor,Õ Ó said trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. ÒI was a little concerned. He put in a big run.Ó
The Òbig runÓ got 4-year-old Justenuffhumor the lead in the final furlong and carried him to a half-length victory over Cowboy Cal. Colony, making his second North American start, failed to threaten and finished seventh.
The victory was the second at the Saratoga meeting for Justenuffhumor, who races for Sheikh MohammedÕs Darley Stable. Justenuffhumor won the Aug. 2 Fourstardave Handicap (gr. IIT) in his last start.
By Distorted Humor, Justenuffhumor was bred in Kentucky by Greg GoodmanÕs Mt. Brilliant Farm. He was consigned by Mt. Brilliant, agent, to the 2006 Keeneland September yearling sale, where Sheikh MohammedÕs bloodstock advisor, John Ferguson, purchased him as agent for $550,000.
Justenuffhumor is the third stakes winner out of the stakes-winning Broad Brush mare Justenuffheart. A two-time stakes winner on grass, Justenuffheart also is the dam of graded winners Dreaming of Anna and Lewis Michael. The former was voted 2006 champion 2-year-old filly after winning the BreedersÕ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I).
Justenuffheart did not produce a foal this year, losing a full sibling to Justenuffhumor. She is carrying a full sibling to the Bernard Baruch winner.
JustenuffheartÕs yearling colt by Storm Cat is consigned by Mt. Brilliant, agent, to the second day of the Keeneland September yearling sale.
Distorted Humor has sired 77 stakes winners. His dozen stakes winners this year include Commentator. Winner of the Whitney Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga in 2005 and in 2008, Commentator was retired after finishing third in this yearÕs Whitney. Distorted Humor stands at Bill Casner and Kenny TrouttÕs WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky.
