Wheels Up At Noon notched his third consecutive victory when he defeated favorite Silver Tree by 21Ú4 lengths in the July 13 Caesar Rodney Stakes at Delaware Park.
Paul Fout trains the 4-year-old Outflanker gelding for Eldon Farm. Wheels Up At Noon came into the Caesar Rodney off a three-quarter-length victory in the June 18 Eight Thirty Stakes, which was his first added-money score and his first start for his current owners.
Wheels Up At Noon, who previously raced for Club K Racing, had begun his career with owner High Five Stables and trainer Ann Merryman. He had been sold to Merryman for $55,000 at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale from Wes Carter, agent. Wheels Up At Noon was sold to Carter for $10,000 at the 2005 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic October yearling sale from White Oaks, agent for The Acorn.
Wheels Up At Noon was bred in Florida by Bill and Lyn Rainbow along with their children, Bo and Catherine. The gelding is out of the unraced Tri Jet mare Noontime Jet, who was bred by LynÕs parents, Carolyn and Samuel H. Rogers Jr.
The Rainbows, who own The Acorn near Ocala, Fla., acquired the mare when she was carrying Wheels Up At Noon for $6,000 at the Ocala BreedersÕ Sales Co.Õs 2003 October mixed sale.
ÒWe were selling her on behalf of my parents, and when she didnÕt really get close to what they wanted, we wanted to keep her in the family,Ó said Lyn Rainbow. ÒWe put the kidsÕ names down, and that is how they bought into her.Ó
Wheels Up At Noon is the second stakes winner out of Noontime Jet, who is also the dam of added-money winner Mad Õbout You. The 23-year-old mareÕs last foal is a yearling filly by Full Mandate.
ÒNoontime Jet has been retired,Ó said Rainbow. ÒShe is a professional babysitter at this point and time.Ó
Outflanker is the sire of 15 stakes winners including additional 2008 added-money winners BayouÕs Lassie (gr. IIIT), Marina Ballerina, and Annabill. The 14-year-old son of Danzig stood the 2008 at season at Maryland Stallion Station for a fee of $4,000.ÑA.H.D.
