The 4-year-old fillies Allicansayis Wow and Lethal Heat, second and third respectively against males in the Del Mar Mile Handicap (gr. IIT) late last month, are back with their own sex in a contentious renewal of the Palomar Handicap (gr. IIT) on closing day at Del Mar Sept. 9.
I Lost My Choo showed no rust from a nearly seven-month layoff, as the 4-year-old filly drew away in mid-stretch for a two-length score in the $100,000 Honey Fox (gr. IIIT) on the turf at Gulfstream Park March 7.
When last seen, Wild Promises was scoring in the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf Jan. 24 at Gulfstream Park, her sixth consecutive stakes win. Since then, the California-based mare has returned home for trainer Greg Gilchrist, but now the duo is back in Florida for more and they will look to add to their bankroll March 7 in the $100,000 Honey Fox (gr. IIIT).
Wild Promises confirmed that she is indeed a star-in-the-making, as the 5-year-old mare collected her sixth consecutive victory after roaring through the stretch to win the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf by 1 3/4 lengths Jan. 24 at Gulfstream Park.
On Jan. 24, Wild Promises will take yet another step and try for her biggest payday to date, as she'll do battle with seven rivals in the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf at Gulfstream Park.
Harry Aleo's Wild Promises shipped in from California to notch her fifth consecutive score Dec. 6 on the Calder Race Course turf, displaying a determined run in the final furlong to take the $100,000 My Charmer Handicap (gr. IIIT) by a length.
All-time leading jockey Russell Baze won his final race at Bay Meadows, known over the years as "Baze Meadows" due to his long record of success there, as the San Mateo track's last winter/spring meet came to an end May 11.
