It is time for the questions to be answered, as 14 horses, seven of them 3-year-olds, will contest the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park, with Horse of the Year up for grabs.
A wide-open field of 15 has been pre-entered is this year's Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I), headed by a powerful 3-year-old group.
Let's face it, the older horse division that at one time looked like a sure thing to dominate the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I), has pretty much fallen apart. Could a horse like Zivo jump up and beat the 3-year-olds?
Magalen O. Bryant's V. E. Day, winner of the Travers Stakes (gr. I), will run in the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park Nov. 1, according to racing manager Cynthia Curtis.
Tonalist and Zivo, first and second, respectively, in the $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I), could meet up again in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I), their trainers said the morning of Sept. 28.
Sophomores Wicked Strong, Tonalist, and V.E. Day take on elders such as Whitney (gr. I) winner Moreno in the 1 1/4-mile Jockey Club Gold Cup Sept. 27 on Super Saturday at Belmont Park.

Trainer Eric Guillot believes Moreno ran his best race ever in the July 5 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park, so he's looking for another top effort from the 4-year-old gelding in the Sept. 27 Jockey Club Gold Cup.

Belmont Park's TVG Super Saturday card Sept. 27 looks to be shaping up as a stellar day of racing with a number of elite runners listed as likely to compete in six graded stakes worth combined purses of $3.4 million.
Travers (gr. I) winner V. E. Day worked seven furlongs in 1:28.30 at approximately 8 a.m., with TwinSpires.com Wood Memorial (gr. I) victor Wicked Strong going six furlongs in 1:15.93 at 9:45 a.m.

With V. E. Day's Travers Stakes (gr. I), Calumet Farm stallion English Channel was represented by not only his first grade I winner but also showed that his offspring can compete at the highest level on dirt.
