Virginia Kraft Payson sprang for three horses from the Sarah J. Leigh estate's dispersal, including session-topper Summer Solo for $700,000, to boost Keeneland January's opening session.
Two back-to-back offerings from the partial dispersal of the Estate of Sarah J. Leigh became the new toppers at the Keeneland January horses of all ages sale Jan. 11 when they were purchased by Virginia Kraft Payson.
Minorette posted a mild upset in the $1 million Belmont Oaks (gr. IT) July 5 at Belmont Park, landing her first North American victory at odds of 6-1.
The $1 million Belmont Oaks (gr. IT), formerly the Garden City Stakes, has found a new identity as part of the New York Racing Association's July 5 Stars and Stripes card, which also features the Belmont Derby (gr. IT).
