Monday, Oct. 27, was another busy work day at Santa Anita Park for horses pointing toward the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Meanwhile, the connections of horses entered were awaiting the post position draw later Monday.
Fifteen juveniles have been pre-entered with first preference in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile, as headliners and grade I winners American Pharoah, Carpe Diem, and Daredevil lead the battle for 2-year-old supremacy.
And the beat goes on for trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. at Monmouth Park Aug. 31 as he captured the racetrack's top 2-year-old stakes events just one day after saddling Itsmyluckyday to win the $600,000 Woodward Stakes (gr. I).
The $150,000 Sanford Stakes (gr. III) July 19 at Saratoga Race Course pits two undefeated stakes winners in Bessie's Boy, six-length winner of the Tremont at Belmont, and impressive Bashford Manor victor Cinco Charlie.
