Harry Rosenblum and Robert LaPenta's Far Right kept a straight path through the stretch, while favored Mr. Z didn't, and that made the difference in the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes at Oaklawn Park Jan. 19.

The road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) at Oaklawn Park will begin Jan. 19 with the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes, a one-mile test for 3-year-olds which drew a group of nine.
Fifteen juveniles have been pre-entered with first preference in the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile, as headliners and grade I winners American Pharoah, Carpe Diem, and Daredevil lead the battle for 2-year-old supremacy.
Recount led from the gate but had to fight out the finish of the $125,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity (gr. III) with familiar rival Private Prospect for a head-bobbing victory Sept. 6 at Arlington International Racecourse.
Arlington International offers two of the last stakes run on Polytrack in the United States this year, as 2-year-olds take the stage in the Arlington-Washington Futurity (gr. III) and Arlington-Washington Lassie Sept. 6.
