Trainer Nick Zito reported Aug. 30 that Miner's Reserve sustained a hairline fracture in his right knee in the Travers Stakes (gr. I) and the Mineshaft colt will be sidelined for several months.

Miner's Reserve will join stablemates Ice Box and Fly Down in the $1 million Shadwell Travers Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Aug. 28, it was confirmed the day before the race.
A field of 11 was drawn for the Travers, with Jim Dandy winner A Little Warm pegged as the 7-2 morning-line favorite. Trappe Shot, First Dude, Super Saver, Afleet Again, and Ice Box are also returning from the Haskell.
A double wager linking the Aug. 28 Travers Stakes (gr. I) with the following day's Personal Ensign (gr. I) will be offered at Saratoga Race Course.
Robert LaPenta's 3-year-olds Miner's Reserve and Ice Box put in workouts Aug. 20 at Saratoga, with both colts from the barn of Nick Zito listed as possible for the $1 million Travers (gr. I) on Aug. 28.

A Little Warm outlasted 15-1 longshot Miner's Reserve to score his first graded stakes win under John Velazquez in the Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II) July 31 at Saratoga.
A Little Warm, runner-up in the Louisiana Derby (gr. II) in his most recent race, has been entered in a 1 1/16-mile allowance at Delaware Park June 29.
