Smile Sprint 'Cap Field Takes Shape

Smile Sprint 'Cap Field Takes Shape

At this time last year at Calder Race Course, trainer Steve Standridge had Rustlewood Farm's Florida homebred Mach Ride poised to score the biggest victory of his career in the $500,000 Smile Sprint Handicap (gr. II) on a memorable 'Summit of Speed' day program, but will not be able to defend his title this year.

Mr. Prospector Key for Keyed Entry

Mr. Prospector Key for Keyed Entry

Keyed Entry has not raced since June 9, when he bore out on the turn in the six-furlong True North Handicap (gr. II) at Belmont Park. Making his first start since returning from a five-month layoff, the 5-year-old son of Honour and Glory carries highweight of 118 in the Jan. 5 Mr. Prospector Handicap (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park.

California Invaders Dominate Carry Back Cast

After Lost in the Fog invaded from California to win the $300,000 Carry Back Stakes (gr. II) in 2005, the six-furlong Summit of Speed test has a strong California presence once again in this year's renewal. Too Much Bling and Northern Soldier are the probable favorites in the field eight 3-year-olds.
