I Spent It tries to become the first 2-year-old since City Zip to sweep the Saratoga Special and Hopeful (gr. I) stakes if the son of Super Saver starts in the latter race Sept. 1, closing day at Saratoga Race Course.
Javier Castellano, waiting for room aboard I Spent It in the stretch, squeezed through on the rail at the furlong mark and cleared off to win the Toyota Saratoga Special Stakes (gr. II) in smashing style Aug. 10 at Saratoga.
Zayat Stables' Mr. Z, runner-up by a neck last time out to Big Trouble in the Sanford Stakes (gr. III), gets a second chance at his first graded stakes win Aug. 10 in the $200,000 Toyota Saratoga Special (gr. II).
In his career debut at Belmont Park, I Spent It showed a good kick in the stretch to notch a three-quarter-length victory in a five-furlong maiden special weight race to become the first winner for freshman sire Super Saver.
