The grade I winner Vacare, making her third start of the 2008 season, is a clear standout among a full field of fillies and mares entered in the $200,000 Palomar Handicap (gr. IIT) on the Del Mar turf course Aug. 30.

Immortelle, Lavender Sky and Foxysox, second through fourth, respectively, in an extremely tight finish to the Santa Ana Handicap (gr. IIT) last month, return to action in the $200,000 Santa Barbara Handicap (gr. IIT) April 19 at Santa Anita.
Having come west for a grade I victory at Del Mar three weeks ago, the New York-based Christophe Clement outfit is poised to try it again. The Clement-trained Rutherienne, winner of six of her seven career starts for owner-breeder Virginia Kraft-Payson, pursues victory in the Del Mar Oaks (gr. I) Aug. 18 on the seaside track's Jimmy Durante Turf Course.
