Diamond Bachelor worked a quick half-mile on the dirt at Santa Anita Park Oct. 31 in preparation for his dirt racing debut in the Nov. 2 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I).
Aotearoa, a Cal-bred son of Good Journey, is a 12-1 shot in the Nov. 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IT) for breeder/owner Paul Viskovich and trainer Leo Powell.
There weren't any audible groans when post positions were drawn for the Nov. 2 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I), but with a field of 13--one short of the maximum permitted--the run to the first turn could prove critical.
Bobby's Kitten, Ken and Sarah Ramsey's homebred son of Kitten's Joy, was made the 5-2 morning line favorite after drawing post 5 for the Nov. 1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IT).
After a big season with their juveniles last year at the Breeders' Cup, leading consignor Wavertree Stables has even more contenders this year.
Grade I winner Private Zone worked four furlongs on the Santa Anita Park main track Oct. 17 in a bullet :45 4/5 with regular rider Martin Pedroza aboard as he prepares for the $1.5 million Xpressbet Breeders' Cup Sprint.
