On June 9 at Belmont Park, Cotton Blossom got the best of Dream Rush in the Acorn Stakes (gr. I), outdueling her in the stretch to win by a hard-fought length. I), but upon further examination, that is not necessarily the case.

The July 14 Delaware Oaks (gr. II) is shaping up to be a continental showdown at Delaware Park. The $500,000, 1 1/16-mile race has attracted a field of eight entrants from points across North America. Appearing to head the field are Cotton Blossom, High Heels, and Tough Tiz's Sis.
Tuesday, July 10, 2007All the superlatives and accolades have been written. The 139th Belmont Stakes (gr. I) and the performance of Rags to Riches will forever be a part of Triple Crown lore, and will go down as one of the sport's greatest moments. But it was not all about one horse. There is another who deserves near-equal billing for his remarkable accomplishments.
Wednesday, June 13, 2007Rags to Riches, who became the queen of racing after she outfought the imposing Curlin in Saturday's 139th Belmont Stakes (gr. I), came out of the race no worse for wear in spite of a bad stumble at the start.

Saturday, June 09, 2007Eighty minutes or so before the sport's top 3-year-olds battle it out in Saturday's Belmont Stakes, some of racing's fastest and classiest three-year-old fillies - including Christmas Kid, Cotton Blossom, and Boca Grande - will meet in the 77th running of the Acorn Stakes (gr. Tuesday, May 01, 2007With Friday's 133rd edition of the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) coming up quickly, a pair of 3-year-old lassies out of the Todd Pletcher barn did some serious leg stretching Saturday morning at Keeneland on a cloudy and crisp morning.

Sunday, April 15, 2007Derrick Smith and Michael Tabor's Rags to Riches, the Todd Pletcher-trained winner of the Las Virgenes (gr. I) and Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I), will be a heavy favorite when the third and final pool Churchill Downs' 2007 Kentucky Oaks Future Wager ("KOFW") launches its four-day run April 12.
Tuesday, April 10, 2007Anita Ebert's homebred High Heels swept past odds-on choice Cotton Blossom at the top of the stretch while romping to a 6 3/4-length upset victory in the $250,000 Fantasy Stakes (gr. II) for 3-year-old fillies at Oaklawn Park Friday.

Wednesday, April 04, 2007Making her first start since a third-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I), Dogwood Stable's Cotton Blossom was too much to handle in the $200,000 Florida Oaks at Tampa Bay Downs Saturday.

Tuesday, March 06, 2007Derrick Smith and Michael Tabor's Rags to Riches, winner of the Las Virgenes (gr. I) and the Eclipse Award winner as the champion 2-year-old filly of 2006, continued to draw strong support, but the wagering interest that represented "all other 3-year-old fillies" remained a solid favorite as Pool 1 of Churchill Downs' Kentucky Oaks Future Wager reached the midway point of its four-day run on Friday.
