The day began with clouds and a sloppy track, but it was fast by post time for the Oaks.

The people came out dressed in their finest.
But, the primary color for the day was pink.
Everyone was in the pink, as Churchill Downs donated money to support breast cancer research, education and awareness.
Even Rachel Alexandra was in the pink.

The early buzz was about the scratch of Champion Zenyatta from the Lousville Distaff.

Then, word came that Justwhistledixie, 2nd choice in the Oaks, was scratched from the race due to a foot abscess.

Calvin Borel, jockey of Rachel Alexandra, won 2 races on the undercard including an upset in the Louisville Distaff with Miss Isella.

Gabby's Golden Gal was sharp all week at Churchill and took the early lead in the Oaks.
But, there was no stopping Rachel Alexandra.
And down the stretch she comes.
