Juddmonte Farms' unbeaten champion Frankel reached an important milestone as a freshman sire July 23 when his daughter Fair Eva won the Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes (Eng-III) at Ascot, providing him with his first stakes winner.
Plum Pretty, shipping from Southern California for trainer Bob Baffert, humbled five rivals by a Rachel Alexandra-like 25 lengths as the 1-20 favorite in the $200,000 Sunland Park Oaks in New Mexico March 27.
Without Kathmanblu in the field, the $500,000 Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II) went from a race with a heavy favorite to one with a wide-open feel.
On Feb. 19, Kathmanblu will take a major step toward the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) when topping a field seven 3-year-old fillies in the $150,000 Rachel Alexandra Stakes (gr. III) at Fair Grounds.
