Ten-time grade I winner Wise Dan is set to race for the first time in nearly four months Aug. 30, but the last thing on trainer Charlie LoPresti's mind, he says, is a third straight Horse of the Year title.

Two-time reigning Horse of the Year Wise Dan worked five furlongs in 1:02.04 on Saratoga's main track Aug. 2 as trainer Charlie LoPresti continues to weigh options for a comeback race.
Trainer Charlie LoPresti said July 31 that two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan will not make his comeback in the Fourstardave Handicap (gr. IIT) at Saratoga, an event the 7-year-old gelding has won the past two years.
Keeneland, in partnership with Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Farm, announced the Shadwell Turf Mile (gr. IT) will carry a $1 million purse for its 29th running Saturday, Oct. 4.
Breezing for the third time since returning to training after colic surgery, two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan went an easy five furlongs in 1:03.72 over the Oklahoma turf course at Saratoga Race Course July 25.

Back home at rainy Woodbine, Canadian Horse of the Year Up With the Birds found his missing explosive kick to win the $220,229 Nijinsky Stakes (gr. IIT) going away July 19 on the turf.
Morton Fink's two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan turned in his first breeze of the summer at Saratoga July 18, progressing toward trainer Charlie LoPresti's goal of making the Fourstardave Handicap (gr. IIT).
