Richard Mandella-trained filly fractured a splint bone in the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes (G2) at Keeneland Oct. 8.
Jay Em Ess Stable's By the Moon returned to the winner's circle after a series of close finishes, after she overtook Pretty N Cool entering the turn and held on for a 1 3/4-length victory in the $200,000 Vagrancy Handicap (G3) May 5 at Belmont Park.
In 2016 Karl Watson, Mike Pegram, and Paul Weitman's Pretty N Cool fired off of a nearly seven-month layoff to win the C.E.R.F. Stakes at Del Mar. In 2017 the layoff was only six months, but she fired just the same to win the Las Flores Stakes (G3).
LNJ Foxwoods' grade 1 winner Constellation will look to pick up her third straight sprint stakes win March 5 in the $100,000 Las Flores Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita Park.
Constellation won her first start for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer Nov. 12 in the City of Phoenix Stakes at Turf Paradise then took a significant step up Dec. 26 to gamely win the La Brea Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park.
