While it's common knowledge within the Thoroughbred industry that trainer Jeff Mullins is in hot water with the New York Racing Association for administering a herbal cough remedy to his horse Gato Go Win prior to the April 6 Bay Shore Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct, fans and horseman who are not familiar with various equine medications may be wondering exactly what ingredients make up this over-the-counter product.
Florida pinhooker Randy Hartley, who owns an interest in Gato Go Win, said he wasn't angry at trainer Jeff Mullins for an incident that caused the colt to be scratched by stewards from the April 4 Gotham Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct the same day Mullins sent out I Want Revenge to win the Wood Memorial (gr. I).
On April 6, two days after Gato Go Win was scratched from the Bay Shore Stakes (gr.III) at Aqueduct because the horse's trainer, Jeff Mullins, was observed administrating an orally-injected substance to his horse in the detention barn, the New York State Racing and Wagering Board said the "matter is still in the hands" of the Aqueduct stewards.
