Eric Kronfeld, who made his mark in both the music and racing inudstries, died May 15 of cancer in New York. Kronfeld, under his Maverick Productions, bred Zenyatta, one of the most popular racehorses in history.

Black Caviar raced from ages 2 to 6 with 25 starts, and was never beaten. She's just been retired, and thoughts now turn to which stallion her owners will send her to in the upcoming breeding season.
An interview with new trainer Will VanMeter, Mike Smith's visit with Zenyatta, and a stop at Patchen Wilkes Farm to visit Lisa Danielle, dam of 2012 Horse of the Year Wise Dan.
A full brother to Horse of the Year Zenyatta was foaled April 9 at Ashford Stud in Lexington, according to Coolmore, which owns broodmare Vertigineux.
