With a sharp move to the rail by Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith, Far Right claimed the $300,000 Southwest Stakes (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park Feb. 22. He had previously won the Smarty Jones Stakes at the Arkansas track.
The redrawn Southwest Stakes (gr. III), part of a Presidents' Day program that was lost due to severe winter weather, brought back 10 of the original 12 sophomore entrants for Feb. 22 at Oaklawn Park.

Far Right completed his major preparations for the $300,000 Southwest Stakes (gr. II), the highlight of the upcoming Presidents Day card at Oaklawn Park, by breezing a half mile in company Feb. 8.
Far Right will make his next start in the $300,000 Southwest Stakes (gr. III) Feb. 16 at Oaklawn Park, Ron Moquett confirmed the morning of Jan. 31. Mike Smith will again have the mount aboard the Smarty Jones Stakes winner.
Smarty Jones Stakes winner Far Right is expected to resume his Triple Crown preparations at Oaklawn Park, but the son of Notional may skip next month's Southwest Stakes (gr. III) in favor of the Rebel (gr. II) March 14.

Will Take Charge, last year's champion 3-year-old male, has been retired and will take up stud duty at Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Ky. The colt has a mild strain to a branch of his suspensory apparatus.
Graded stakes winner Super Ninety Nine has been retired from racing and will stand in 2015 at Josh and Mike Pons' Country Life Farm near Bel Air, Md., as the property of Spendthrift Farm and Country Life.
Will Take Charge breezed five furlongs in 1:00 2/5 Sept. 10 under the Twin Spires at Churchill Downs, fastest of 21 other workers at the distance.
