Thunder Gulch, champion 3-year-old male of 1995 and leading sire of 2001, has been retired from stallion duty at Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky. The 23-year-old is the sire of 96 stakes winners.

Keeneland's January horses of all ages sale opened its four-day run Jan. 12 with mixed results, as gross fell but average gained and median remained level in a market widely described as "fair" by consignors.
