After finishing second in his two most recent stakes tries, Stanford took care of business Saturday, July 11 to win the $100,000 Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park.
After finishing second in three straight races, including a runner-up finish in the Louisiana Derby (gr. II), Stanford will try to secure his first stakes victory July 11 in the Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park.
It took WinStar Farm's homebred Commissioner seven tries to get his first graded stakes score, but the A.P. Indy colt appears to have found his best stride at the 1 3/16-mile distance.
WinStar Farm's Skip Away Stakes (gr. III) winner Commissioner will look to claim his second graded event in a row in the $300,000 Pimlico Special Stakes May 15 at Pimlico Race Course.
Protonico, winner of the Discovery Handicap (gr. III) and runner-up in the Clark Handicap (gr. I) to close 2014, will carry top weight of 120 pounds in a field of six entered for the April 11 Ben Ali (gr. III) at Keeneland.

Mike Repole's Misconnect connected on the biggest win of his career when he ran down Cutty Shark in the final yards to take the $250,000 General George Handicap (gr. III) at Laurel Park by a neck Feb. 16.
Repole Stable's Micromanage returned to the dirt Dec. 13 and overpowered Vyjack in the $100,000 Queens County Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack, rallying five wide before securing the victory by 1 1/4 lengths.
