Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky., has announced its 2014 stud fees, led by Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat--Maria's Storm, by Rahy), who will stand for $85,000, the same fee as last year.
Woodford Thoroughbreds will stand first-year stallions Soldat for $5,000 and Currency Swap for $3,500.
Gainesway's benchmark stallion Tapit will stand the 2014 season for $150,000, the Lexington farm announced Nov. 6 in releasing its stud fees for the coming year.
The son of War Front broke his maiden in the grade III With Anticipation Stakes.
Gulfstream Park announced a record $10.75 million stakes program for its 2013-14 meet that consists of 61 stakes, highlighted by the $1 million Besilu Stables Florida Derby (gr. I) March 29.
Spendthrift Farm has purchased Flashpoint, winner of the Hutcheson Stakes (gr. II) and Jersey Shore Stakes (gr. III). The multiple graded stakes-winning son of Pomeroy will stand at Le Mesa Stallions for 2014.
Fasig-Tipton's new horses of all ages sale that is utilizing new technology in the way horses are cataloged and information is disseminated is gaining momentum. A dozen horses have been added recently for the July 15 event.
Trainer D. Wayne Lukas will send out a classic winner in Oxbow against another classic winner in Orb in this year's $1 million Belmont Stakes (gr. I) June 8 at Belmont Park.
The connections of five horses who finished behind Orb in Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) hope their starter can become 20th horse since 1973 to win the Preakness Stakes (gr. I) after coming up short in Derby.

Lightly raced and undefeated Gentlemen's Bet will add some intrigue when he faces several tough competitors in the $250,000 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park April 13.

Shug McGaughey made the trip to Payson Park March 31 to check on Orb, his Besilu Stables Florida Derby winner (gr. I) the preceding afternoon, reporting that the son of Malibu Moon was looking bright and feeling good.
Trainer Shug McGaughey said he was waiting for Orb to take him to Louisville, and the Hall of Fame conditioner should be on his way with the colt's big win in the $1 million Besilu Stables Florida Derby (gr. I) March 30.

A field of 10 has been entered for the $1 million Besilu Stables Florida Derby (gr. I) March 30 at Gulfstream Park, although three horses are getting almost all of the attention: Itsmyluckyday, Shanghai Bobby, and Orb.
Both colts will be among the favorites for the Santa Anita and Florida Derbys.
Champion Shanghai Bobby breezed five furlongs at Palm Meadows Training Center on the morning of March 24 in final preparation for a scheduled start in the $1 million Besilu Stables Florida Derby (gr. I).
