Second by a head to Close Hatches last time out in the June 7 Ogden Phipps Stakes (gr. I), multiple grade I winner Princess of Sylmar seeks a rebound July 12 in the $750,000 Delaware Handicap (gr. I) at Delaware Park.
Princess of Sylmar may not have won an Eclipse Award for 2013 despite four consecutive grade I victories, but owner Ed Stanco of King of Prussia Stable was a happy man at the Iroquois Awards Dinner in Pennsylvania May 30.
Four of the five graded stakes on the 2014 Delaware Park stakes schedule will feature the ladies of Thoroughbred racing, highlighted by the $750,000 Delaware Handicap (gr. I).
The 2014 Delaware Park meet will begin May 17 and extend through Oct. 22, track officials said. The track will offer 81 racing programs.
