Promise Me Silver put away 7-5 favorite Unbridled Reward down the stretch to win the $108,300 Debutante Stakes and became the second Texas-bred filly in a row to win the race for trainer Bret Calhoun June 21 at Churchill.

The 2-year-old daughter of Service Stripe led all the way and stopped the timer in 1:02.52 after completing the 5 1/2 furlongs on a fast track under Donnie Meche. The winning time eclipses Leelanau's track record of 1:03.11 established earlier in the meet.
The $100,000-added Debutante Stakes at Churchill Downs has seemed to be little more than coronations for heavy favorites such as eventual juvenile filly champion Silverbulletday and multiple stakes winners Chilukki and Gold Mover. But that's not the case for Saturday's five-furlong race, which has attracted a wide-open field of eight with no clear-cut favorite.
