Zabeel Colt Tops Second Session Of New Zealand Auction

A Zabeel colt out of the group I winner Our Marquise brought the top price of $1,050,000 (approximately $444,140 in U.S. funds) during Tuesday's second session of the New Zealand premier yearling sale at Karaka. Consigned by Cambridge Stud, he was purchased by Emirates Park Stud, which is owned by Nasser Lootah of Dubai.

Magical Miss Wins Victoria Oaks

Living legend Bart Cummings won his eighth Victoria Oaks (Aust-I) when the Danehill filly Magical Miss strolled home a 4 1/2-length winner in the 141st edition at Flemington. Zabeel filly Manang nosed out Lil Lo Lill (by Umatilla) for second. The 2:34.7 time equalled the 28-year race record.

Zabeel Dominates First Session of New Zealand

Sensational New Zealand sire Zabeel dominated the first sessionof the National Yearling Sale conducted by New Zealand Bloodstock Tuesday at Karaka, near Auckland. Of the $14,822,500 gross (US$6,434,151), 16 filles and colts by Zabeel accounted for $4,985,000, roughly a third of the total receipts.
