In 2011, there are several reasons why the outlook for buyers and sellers of yearlings should be more positive even though America's economy continues to struggle.

With an increase in average price and strength at the top of the market, the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale that concluded Wednesday, Oct. 3, was an anomaly in the North American yearling market so far this year.
Topped by a Victory Gallop filly sold for $95,000, Sunday's 13th session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale followed the pattern of the 10 previous sessions as the gross receipts and average and median prices soared.

The market adjustment that has resulted in declines at most major equine yearling sales is expected to continue at the marathon Keeneland September yearling sale, according to three prominent bloodstock agents. The sale in Lexington begins Monday and continues through Sept. 25.
A colt by Alphabet Soup was purchased by Manor Farm for $185,000 to top the third open session of the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's yearling sale Aug. 23.
