Medaglia d'Oro, the leading second-crop sire and one of the hottest sires in North America right now, has been purchased by Sheikh Mohammed's Darley operation and has been relocated to Darley's farm near Lexington, it was announced June 5.
William and Corinne Heiligbrodt, who campaigned grade II winner Posse in the name of Heiligbrodt Racing Stable, have sold the majority of their shares in the leading first-crop stallion to Posse Partners.
International champion Ipi Tombe produced her first foal, a colt by Sadler's Wells, Feb. 25 at John and Lady Carolyn Warren's Highclere Stud in Berks County in England.
EquineCommerce.com, an Internet selling venture for Thoroughbreds, shut down Jan. 1. The company was only in business for a little over a year even though it was backed by Keeneland and a number of high-powered consignors and buyers.

An agreement was reached July 26 between The Blood-Horse magazine and Thoroughbred Daily News to distribute TDN's daily newsletter free to all subscribers of The Blood-Horse. The service will begin in early August.

A plan to attract new owners by selling an interest in the 2-year-old stable of Bob and Beverly Lewis has been shelved, said Barry Weisbord, who helped facilitate the venture through his Premier Thoroughbred Ventures.
EquineCommerce.com, the online company which sells horses through a bid/ask system, registered its first sale on Dec. 30. An online bidder purchased a Smart Strike no-guarantee season for $24,500. EquineCommerce.com launched its Web site in early December.
EquineCommerce.com, which had expected to start its bid/ask system of selling bloodstock today, instead hopes to launch on Dec. 8.
