Jockey Leparoux Breaks Turfway Victory Mark

Apprentice jockey Julien Leparoux broke the Turfway Park record for most wins in a single meet when he guided Harpers Lane to a front-running victory in the sixth race Wednesday night. The win was Leparoux's 151st since the winter/spring meeting began Jan. 1.

State Lifts Quarantine of One Turfway Park Barn

The Kentucky State Veterinarian's office lifted the quarantine of Barn 26 at Turfway Park Jan. 19 after results of tests taken the week of Jan. 9 indicated negative results for equine herpesvirus.

More Tests Scheduled for Horses Exposed to Virus

Horses in Barn 26 at Turfway Park were to be retested the evening of Dec. 28 for evidence of equine herpesvirus to determine if any other horses are positive for the virus, said Rusty Ford of the Kentucky State Veterinarian's office. Results are expected by the weekend.

A barn at Turfway Park in Northern Kentucky was placed under quarantine Dec. 21 after a horse showed signs of suspected equine herpesvirus, a contagious upper respiratory and neurological disease.

Turfway Park Sets Memorial Service for Herrell

Turfway Park will hold a memorial service for jockey James "Chris" Herrell at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27, opening day of the track's holiday meet. The service will take place in the paddock and is open to the public.

Despite Rough Winter, Turfway Numbers Up

Despite numerous cancellations because of weather or track conditions, Turfway Park has registered business gains during the winter/spring meet that extends through April 1. And with live racing set to resume March 10, it appears the racing surface finally has dried out after a washed-out weekend.

Turfway Cancels Remainder of Racing Sunday

Citing track conditions, Turfway Park canceled races 4-10 on Sunday's 10-race card. Three races were completed without incident. Racing is scheduled to resume Wednesday, February 11, at 5:30 p.m.
