Morton Fink's homebred Wise Dan, two-time Horse of the Year, has been retired after trainer Charles LoPresti noticed some filling in a tendon the morning of Sept. 7.
Two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan continued to progress toward his season debut, turning in an easy five-furlong breeze in 1:00 3/5 under regular rider Damien Rock April 1 at Keeneland.
Morton Fink's two-time Horse of the Year Wise Dan got back to work Feb. 24 at Keeneland, recording his first published breeze of 2014 under regular rider Damien Rock.
The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association named J. Paul Reddam the leading owner of 2012. Ocala Stud was named the top national breeder and Morton Fink was honored as the leading small breeder of 2012.

Successful Dan, coming back off a layoff of nearly 10 months, dictated an easy pace and held off the pursuing Boisterous in the final furlong to post a one-length victory in the Ben Ali Stakes (gr. III) April 21 at Keeneland.
There was a time when "the other Dan" was Wise Dan, who went on to become Horse of the Year. On April 21 fans will witness the return of the original, Successful Dan, in the $150,000 Ben Ali Stakes at Keeneland.

Wise Dan, Morton Fink's 2012 Horse of the Year, turned in his second work of the season at Keeneland March 2, a four-furlong move in :49 1/5. Stablemates Turallure and Successful Dan are also training well.
Leading Horse of the Year candidate Wise Dan returned to the track Jan. 7 following some turnout time at trainer Charlie Lopresti's Forest Lane Farm near Lexington, joining Successful Dan and Turallure.
