Jockey Joel Rosario has been named to ride Besilu Stables Florida Derby (gr. I) winner Orb in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), agent Ron Anderson confirmed April 10.
After winning three graded stakes on turf last year, including the grade I Maker's 46 Mile Stakes, Data Link will make his 5-year-old seasonal debut on Feb. 23 in the Canadian Turf Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park.

Carriage Trail comes into the Oct. 24 Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic (gr. I) at Santa Anita off a dazzling performance in the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (gr. I). The 5-year-old daughter of Giant's Causeway rolled to a 7 3/4 length victory in that race while setting a track record for 1 1/8 miles of 1:46.77 over Keeneland's Polytrack.
The Jockey Club has launched the Equine Injury Database system that will provide the racing industry with its first national database of racing injuries. The Equine Injury Database grew out of a proposal first put forth at the Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit in Lexington in October 2006.

Coronado's Quest, one of the top 3-year-olds of his year and from the same female family as the great Ruffian, died March 8 from heart failure after covering a mare at the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association's Shizunai Stallion Station.
ESPN Original Entertainment (EOE) announced it will produce an original film, "Ruffian," based on the story of the great filly who was undefeated until suffering a fatal breakdown in a match race against Foolish Pleasure at Belmont Park in 1975.
The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association's proposed Thoroughbred Championship Tour will proceed with assistance from the National Thoroughbred Racing Association and the Breeders' Cup.
Maryland horseman Stuart S. Janney III has been elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Blood-Horse Publications. Janney assumed the post Aug. 4.
