A smashing winner of the Central Bank Ashland Stakes (gr. I) this spring, favored Emollient returned to Keeneland Oct. 6 to capture the $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (gr. I) in another dazzling effort.
In Lingerie is scheduled to take a plane ride from Kentucky to California Oct. 9 and "our thought at the moment" is for her to run in the Breeders' Cup World Championships next month at Santa Anita Park, said Aron Wellman
Favored In Lingerie scored her first grade I victory when she took the $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes by two lengths Oct. 6 at Keeneland in Central Kentucky.
Favored Aruna, racing on Polytrack for the first time, emerged from the pack approaching mid-stretch and quickly took control to win the $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland Oct. 9.
Multiple stakes winner winner Acoma added a first grade I victory to her record when she seized the lead coming off the turn for home en route to taking the $500,000 Spinster Stakes at Keeneland Oct. 10.
Some of the top fillies and mares in training have been entered in Sunday's $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (gr. I), the fourth of four grade I stakes on opening weekend at Keeneland in Lexington.
Juddmonte Farms has assumed sponsorship of Keeneland's Spinster Stakes.The $500,000-guaranteed Juddmonte Spinster, to be run Oct. 9, is a grade I event for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up and one of the top stepping stones for the Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) in October.
Azeri, the 2002 Horse of the Year, has crisscrossed the country piling up 16 victories in 22 starts thus far in her career. She never has raced at Keeneland, but that will change Oct. 10 when she takes on six fillies and mares in the $500,000 Overbrook Spinster Stakes (gr. I) at the Lexington racetrack.
James B. Tafel LLC's Lakenheath, winner by a head in Monday's Arlington Matron (gr. III), came out of her victory in good order and may try Kentucky for her next trip to the post, according to trainer Gene Cilio.
It's now or never. The two major preps for the Oct. 27 Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) are this weekend in Kentucky and New York, and it's time for those seeking a berth in the Distaff to deliver or pack it in.
Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Ky., recently announced it would sponsor the $100,000 2-year-old stakes formerly known as the WHAS-11 Stakes at Churchill on May 5, Kentucky Derby Day. As a result, the farm will not sponsor the grade I Spinster Stakes at Keeneland this fall.
