Roberts to Introduce 2007 Race for Education Scholars

Trainer Monty Roberts will be the guest speaker at a reception to introduce this year's recipients of scholarships from The Race for Education, the Kentucky Equine Education Program, and the Kentucky Horse Council. The reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 14 at Victorian Square in Lexington.

Race For Education Awards $358,000 in Scholarships

The Race For Education is awarding nearly $358,000, and obtained another $43,000, in scholarships to 34 students for the 2006/2007 academic year. This year's recipients -- from 20 states around the country -- were chosen from a pool of more than 400 applicants.

The board of directors of The Race For Education voted Friday to allocate just under $300,000 for scholarships for the 2004 school year. Another $40,000 has been slotted for educational programs such as English as Second Language and literacy classes.
