Proviso, who finished unplaced in Goldikova's record third TVG Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) win at Churchill Downs Nov. 6, has been retired from racing to become a broodmare for Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms.
Juddmonte Farms' homebred Proviso is a bit of a late bloomer, but she seems to be reaching her peak heading into the $2 million TVG Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) at Churchill Downs Nov. 6.
Winner of four consecutive grade I events, the mare works four furlongs in :51 3/5.

English-bred mare Proviso won her third consecutive grade I race July 31 at Saratoga, as she held off Shared Account and two-time defending titleholder Forever Together in a blanket finish to take the Diana Handicap.
The star-studded Diana (gr. IT), set for July 31 at Saratoga, includes multiple grade I winners Proviso and Forever Together, as well as Phola and Maram.

Interference in deep stretch cost Juddmonte Farms a chance to win their own race, as their English homebred Proviso crossed the wire first in the $500,000 Juddmonte Spinster (gr. I) but was disqualified for veering out sharply inside the sixteenth-pole. The disqualification gave the victory to Brushwood Stable's Mushka, who crossed the wire second by 2 1/4 lengths, but likely would have gone by Proviso had her path not been impeded.
Heading for a second appearance in the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) this fall, the brilliant filly Goldikova showed that she is at the top of her game following a smashing repeat victory in the Prix Rothschild (Fr-I) at Deauville Aug 2.
With a tremendous charge over the final quarter of a mile, the Aga Khan's undefeated Zarkava registered a three-length win in the Prix de Diane (Fr-I) at Chantilly June 9.
