Churchill Downs is abandoning the two-tiered process that has been used since 1998 to determine the starting field for the Kentucky Derby and will revert to a traditional post position draw this year.
Post positions for all 14 Breeders' Cup races will be drawn Oct. 21, with fields for 10 races drawn in the morning and four in the afternoon.
