But the son of Kissin Kris drew unenviable post 12 in the 1 1/8-mile main track event, severely compromising his chances of besting the other 11 rivals who will go to post.

'Kiss' Going in Marathon, Not Classic

There has been talk about Delightful Kiss running in the $5-million Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I). But the Hobeau Farm homebred will be entered in the inaugural $500,000 Breeders' Cup Marathon at 1 1/2 miles because his connections want a win in the World Championships sooner rather than later, and time is running out. Hobeau owner Jack Dreyfus is in his 90s.

Hobeau Farm's Florida homebred Delightful Kiss, who hadn't won in more than 13 months and was well-beaten in all four starts this season, stretched out to 12 furlongs for the first time and enjoyed every moment of it, roaring through the stretch to win the $100,000 Turfway Park Fall Championship Stakes (gr. III) by 1 1/4 lengths Sept. 6 on the Polytrack.
