Tenpins Repels X Country for Fayette Win

Trainer Donald Winfree bypassed a shot at the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) with 4-year-old Tenpins, opting instead for the $156,122 Fayette Stakes (gr. III) at Keeneland. While the $4-million question remains unanswered, Tenpins did earn owner-breeder Joseph Vitello $99,789 for his 1 3/4-length triumph over a pesky X Country in the 1 1/8-mile Saturday feature at the Lexington oval.

Megans Bluff was headed in the stretch but regrouped to win Saturday's $112,900 Early Times Mint Julep Handicap (gr. IIIT) at Churchill Downs. The 5-year-old bay daughter of Pine Bluff completed the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.87 on a good turf course in winning the race for the second straight year.

Perret Ends 32-Year Drought With Pucker Up Win Aboard Snow Dance

Snow Dance, the 9-10 favorite in the 12-horse field, beat Kiss the Devil by 1 3/4 lengths Saturday to win the $150,000 Pucker Up Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Arlington Park. Perret earned his third Pucker Up win Saturday and his first since 1969. He also won the 1968 renewal of the race.
