Next Stop Oaklawn Park for Graeme Hall

New Orleans Handicap (gr. II) runner-up Graeme Hall will likely return to the site of his Arkansas Derby (gr. II) victory for his next start, according to trainer Todd Pletcher. Pletcher, though, hopes the 5-year-old son of Dehere can improve upon his fourth-place finish in last year's renewal of the Oaklawn Park Handicap (gr. I).

Valhol Wins New Orleans Handicap Prep

James Jackson's Valhol rallied from just off the pace then held Parade Leader safely at bat to win the $125,000 Whirlaway Handicap at the Fair Grounds. On a fast track, the 6-year-old gelded son of Diazo completed the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.94.

King Cugat Noses Mandarin Marsh for Jamaica Win

Centennial Farms' King Cugat launched a powerful closing run at the top of the stretch to catch pacesetter Mandarin Marsh at the wire, winning the $200,000 Jamaica Handicap (gr. IIT) by a nose Sunday at Belmont Park. Under Jerry Bailey, the Bill Mott-trained King Cugat completed the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.63 on firm turf.
