Chowhan Purchases Palomino Filly

Splash of Vanilla, believed to be the only Thoroughbred registered as a palomino that has ever been cataloged for a Keeneland sale, was sold for $14,000 to Dr. Naveed Chowhan during the final session of the January horses of all ages auction in Lexington. Chip Muth of Georgetown, Ky., signed the sale ticket for the 2-year-old filly with the golden coat Jan. 17.

Palomino Filly Arrives at Keeneland

Splash of Vanilla, believed to be the first Palomino Thoroughbred entered in a Keeneland auction, arrived on the sale grounds in Lexington Jan. 15 around noon and then settled down in Barn 24. The 2-year-old filly is scheduled to be offered as Hip. No. 2176 during the Jan. 17 final session of Keeneland's horses of all ages sale.

Splash of Vanilla, a filly by Ballado Chieftan, probably will attract plenty of attention at the upcoming Keeneland January horses of all ages sale because of her golden color. She is registered as a palomino.

Foal Papers Denied for AI-bred Palominos, Case Heading to Court

The Jockey Club will not reinstate the foal registration papers of four rare Palomino Thoroughbreds because they were bred by artificial insemination. The breeder, who believes she is the victim of selective prosecution, intends to pursue the case further in a in New York courtroom.
