The Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. winter mixed sale, which ended its three-day run Jan. 18 in Central Florida, generated a median price of $5,500 that was the same as last year's comparable figure. In addition, the buy-back/no bid rate dropped from 43.9% in 2006 to 38.4%, indicating greater consignor satisfaction with the prices.

When reviewing the action during the 2007 Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s fall mixed sale Oct. 8-12 in Central Florida, Tom Ventura, OBS general manager and director of sales, said it is difficult to compare the results with those of last year. This year, the sale had one less consignor-preferred session and one additional open session.

FTC Donates $315,000 to Community, Equine Programs

The Florida Thoroughbred Charities donated $315,000 in 2007 to benefit equine and community programs at the local and state level. Since 1990 the FTC, a non-profit organization and the charitable arm of the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association, has raised nearly $4 million.
